Minutes of meeting at

- Apologies:

- Minutes:
These were approved by Julia and seconded by Alex as being a
true record of the meeting.
- Matters Arising:
- Disability toilet at Armadale
Castle. Ongoing.
- Nothing further heard re Kyle
Health Centre or Kyle Church Hall.
- Portree Regeneration Plan
– there is some concern that there is no allocation of any bus shelters
in the whole of the new development. Action: Liz has written to Highland
Council and is awaiting a reply.
- Finance – Peter had contacted
the insurance company who said that we are covered and they would send
on the appropriate documents.
- Hand held computer – It
was agreed that we would include this in our list of items to be purchased
from SDEF funding.
- Portree toilets: Liz
has written to the Highland Council and is awaiting a reply.
- Kyle Post Office –Liz had
called at the Post Office and been told that the new post box was going
to be installed.
- Portree Chemist shop – Action: Liz to write letter.
- Sabhal Mòr Ostaig –Liz
had been invited to attend the ‘Freshers Fayre’ but the notice was
too short.
- Tigh na Drochaid dropped
kerb – Liz has written to Highland Council and is awaiting a reply.
- Armadale Hotel – Action: Julia to contact the
owner with her report.
- Training– Julia will give
some basic audit training in November to those members who wish to take
part.
- Broadford Hotel - ongoing Action:
Liz to write to Broadford Hotel.
- Broadford toilets – Liz
has written to Highland Council and is awaiting a reply.
- New Business:
- Edinbane Community Garden
– Liz had been contacted by one of the committee who had concerns
regarding the lack of thought given to disabled access to the garden.
Liz had been along and taken photos and offered advice and is waiting
for another member of the committee to get back to her.
- SDEF funding – it was agreed
that we would purchase a memory card for the camera, a dictaphone, the
hand held computer and look into the price of a laptop and presentation
equipment. Action:
Liz to get prices for the equipment.
- Keith Robertson – a letter
had been received from Keith as the new Access Development Officer with
SDEF suggesting that the Highland area be split into three groups and
asking where we would like to meet for a regional meeting. The Western
Isles Access Panel had hoped that we would go to Stornoway but the Panel
felt that it would be too far and too expensive so had decided that
Inverness was more accessible. Action:
Liz to contact to Keith Robertson with our comments.
- Portree Gymnasium – Mike
Dunworth said that the access to both this and the other facilities
were not accessible to everyone and suggested that we write with comments. Action: Liz to write letters
to those business using the same access in the hotel.
- Ayr Access Panel – a handbook
of Ayr’s disabled facilities had been received at the office and it
was suggested that we write to them saying how well we thought it had
been compiled. It was also agreed that we take another look at our own
website and try and improve it in line with this book. Action:
Liz to write to Ayr Access Panel.
